In an interview with the International Center for Investigative Reporting, former Nigerian senator Shehu Sani discussed the country’s current situation and the likely outcomes of the 2023 election.
There are really just two major political parties in Nigeria, according to Senator Shehu Sani, and their candidates would be at the forefront of the 2023 presidential race.
However, he pointed out that Peter Obi had only gained a significant following in the south east, particularly among young people. He added that Kano State, the most significant and well-known state in Northern Nigeria, is where Rabiu Kwankwaso is most powerful.
“This election is about APC against the rest,” Senator Shehu Sani said. The opposition can overthrow the All Progressive Congress if they band together. The APC would retake control if they became divided.
The divides that currently exist, with Kwankwaso on one side and Peter Obi on the other, are only serving to help them overthrow the government if they unify around Atiku Abubakar, the head of the main opposition. Tinubu Bola
