6 Family Members die After a Downpour in Freetown, Sierra Leone

In Sierra Leone, six family members were found deceased following a prolonged downpour that started on August 28’s Sunday morning.

Eight members of the family were trapped within due to the downpour, according to sources who were on the scene of the tragedy; six of the victims were found dead while two were recovered alive.

According to reports, the heavy rains in East Freetown’s steep Looking Town had triggered a mudslide, trapping several residents inside.

Intense flash floods have been spotted in the capital Freetown, and some residents in slum areas have been seen attempting to flee on rooftops.

The community’s youngsters made up the rescue team, which tried its hardest to save the lives of the slain victims but was ultimately unsuccessful.
