A Nigerian Student writes to express his heartfelt concern about some student leaders who speak on behalf of other students, saying they share same interest in their choice of candidate.

The writer explains that such decision was taken without the students’ notice and therefore the student leaders are not in power to decide their choice of candidate.
It was revealed that during an Open Air Convention with his Excellency Gov. Akeredolu, some student leaders from different universities in Ondo state, appeared present. And this gave other students an impression that they might be in support of the APC candidate, Gov Akeredolu.
A Nigerian Student have taken a deep thought and selflessly expressed his opinion concerning the upcoming Ondo State Governorship Election.

It’s no longer news that the upcoming Ondo State Governorship Election is to hold 10th of October, 2020. And so far, We’ve seen so many reactions surfacing on social media on their choice of candidate emerging as the Governor of the state.
The writer clearly explain reasons for his reaction, and what he believes the state Government can do to win the heart of the students.

He writes;
“This is to inform you all that Nigerian Students; most especially the indigenes of the Sunshine State are baffled by the recent move taken by the concerned student Union leaders we claimed we elect to lift our voices up in one accord, but are propelled by their selfish interest.”
“While having right to endorse and support any Political party as stated in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended; you all should be informed that you can only endorse or support any Candidate on your own and not on behalf of all Students.”
“Of course, every student has his/her constitutional right to endorse any candidate of their choice. And as for you, if you would want to endorse any candidate on behalf of your students; constitutional, you are to seek the opinions of those students you represent before you go ahead”
“Besides, why would you endorse governor Akeredolu Oluwarotimi on behalf of the Students, by symbolically rising four by four fingers to the sky, to show that you endorsed him. Of course we all know you are at your silly game again. This action doesn’t represent the opinions and views of all Students. Unionism ought not to be played that way. More so, only a callow Leader would do such. This is a democratic season; and in every democratic setting, voice of the majority should count in everything. Well, I am not baffled since many of you don’t even know how politics works. You jump into it and mess it up. Later, you put on your innocent status that “Politics is a dirty game”. We all know how most of you got into office. Many are “indirectly” “appointed” by the Schools’ Authorities just as figure head. You are endorsing a candidate With the hope of believing you can bring Nigerian Students out to vote for him, when actually some of you can’t even pull crowd during your Schools’ Elections. How will you even do, we heard cases of union leader who knelt down on the order of a secondary school teacher on a little case. We heard cases of selfish and corrupt leaders who are propelled to action by their stomach. What can all these set of leaders do!
More so, who are you symbolically telling the entire students you have endorsed on their behalf? Someone whose wife @Betty Akeredolu doesn’t know how to speak to Nigerian Students in public, than to abuse them. Recall the issue that happened at FUTA, where Rotimi Akeredolu’s wife disgraced entire AAUAITES in a federal University.
Who are you still saying we should endorse? Someone that tend to increase the burden of the poor Parents by hiking all tuition fees across all the State-owned Varsities, colleges and Polytechnics. Do you Union leaders recall how many students dropped out of school? Do you know how much burden it has caused every students to attend lecture? I’m sure you don’t know! because if you do, you won’t suggest Rotimi Akeredolu to them.
Besides, are you telling students to endorse someone who doesn’t listen to the yawning and pleas of the Students. Instead, he said categorically that “I will order the Police to shoot you ( Protesting Students) if you go on the street”. Don’t forget how @Rotimi Akeredolu bet the game with his second term ambition.. Have u suddenly forgotten how Nigerian Students were flogged, teargassed and molested during the peaceful Protest? Mr. Union leaders sirs, truth be told; no sane and mentally stable student can support Mr. Governor for a second term in office. Only a nitwit, callous and selfish student and citizens of the state would do.
Notwithstanding, before you present him to us, ask yourself:
What has @Aketi done in your schools that had benefit all students you governed across your various schools? Come out here and tell us openly.
Nigerian Students aren’t blind to see nor deaf to hear. Voice out and stop going for your own selfish interest. Instead of telling him the bitter truth on ground, you were paying courtesy visit up and down. That is how the familiarization game starts.
On this note, we however inform Mr. Governor Aketi Mandate Continuing that all students are not the one endorsing you as you might have been informed or witnessed. Those who called themselves “Union Leaders” to you on that day only represent their own voice and not that of the Students.
Finally, the general public should be informed that Students from Ondo State aren’t sleeping to forget the callous words said by Mr. Governor to us, and we shall pay back as promised. #Ondo2020. #PayBackTime.
Signed,
Comr. Adecocoa.

this is the bitter truth .
Well said
If the union leaders are appreciating his excellency in their thank u visit, they shouldn’t have appreciated him for what he never did.
I’m deeply in support of this, I’m not endorsing who called us “hoodlums” when we cried for his help.
I support your words my able comrade this is the pay back time
