Ankita Kumari, a young woman, died after allegedly being set on fire by a guy in the Dumka region of the Indian state of Jharkhand.
According to the police, the suspect in the case was held in custody in the interim. The perpetrator, Shahrukh Hussain, set fire to the victim and drenched her in gasoline after she turned down his proposal of marriage.
The accused Shahrukh has been detained, according to Dumka Superintendent of police (SP) Ambar Lakda, who made a statement regarding the suspect’s custody. We will request a quick trial before the fast track court. People are helping us out. We urge people to uphold the peace. Section 144 has been implemented, and the situation is now under control.
In response to the tragedy, Banna Gupta, the health minister for Jharkhand, pledged that those accountable would face severe penalties and a prompt trial, Stechitegist Media reports.
“The state government takes the murder of a girl in Dumka seriously. The culprits will face harsh punishment. A quick trial will be made sure of. We have discussed this with DC,” Gupta added.
The victim asserted in a statement that the accused had phoned her on her mobile phone around 10 days earlier and begged her to become his lover.
“On Monday at around 8 o’clock, he contacted me once more and threatened to murder me if I did not talk to him. My father assured me that he would speak with the man’s family on Tuesday after I told him about the threat. We ate dinner and then went to bed. I was snoozing in a different room.
