Antony, a target for Manchester United, has openly appealed with his present club Ajax to allow him to join the Red Devils.
According to 90min, the Dutch champions turned down a €90 million offer from United on Friday because it fell just under their asking price by about €2 million. The winger, who is not currently practicing with the first squad, has tried to push a trade by skipping workouts.
In an interview with Fabrizio Romano, Antony shared his version of this saga’s happenings with the world and expressed optimism that Ajax would approve of an exit.
“Since February of this year, my agents have traveled to Amsterdam to let Ajax know that I want to leave the club to take on a new challenge, and that some of the interested clubs would be able to meet with me in person,”
“I cut short my vacation in June of this year to personally advise the Ajax management, including the new coach, of my desire to quit and request that they give this idea some thought. Because it was a two-season endeavor when I first started in Amsterdam.
“Meetings came to an end during the window months, and Ajax made a suggestion for a contract extension. I emphasized “I want to leave the club” once again.
“I expressed my previous desire to leave the club in a meeting with the club’s board of directors today, but this time I had a sizable offer to make in exchange. Others had already arrived, but Ajax consistently objected and stymied the discussion by insisting that they merely replace [me].
“I’m not asking Ajax to release me; instead, I’m asking them to sell me for the highest price ever paid for an Eredivisie player. Since February, I have insisted on this term so that the club could rebuild the team in confidence.
“I had a great time in Amsterdam. I acquired acquaintances, gained titles, and developed a portion of my career. But at this point, I want to reiterate that I’m prepared and motivated to pursue my goals.
“People need to pay attention to me and realize that my motivation leads to happiness. I have to keep working hard and giving my best.
I shall always have Ajax in my heart.
“I hope Ajax supporters understand me since a football player’s future is a completely unknown thing and because the prospects might be exceptional. I just want to say thank you to the fans.
