The Manchester United medical for Ajax attacker Antony will take place on Monday following the Red Devils’ completion of a Dutch record contract.

United verbally agreed to pay €100m (£85m) for Antony on Saturday. The specifics were worked out by the two parties over the course of the rest of the weekend.

13-time Premier League winners United had made three prior offers for Antony, the most recent of which was for €90 million (£76.7 million), but Ajax had rejected them in order to achieve a club-record sale.

Indeed, throughout the entire summer, the Eredivisie heavyweights have remained steadfast in their high estimation of Antony and have requested that United pay more than the €92 million (£78 million) that Barcelona paid for Frenkie de Jong in 2019.

United will now pay €95m (£80.8m) in guaranteed fees and an additional €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons. Antony, who has missed Ajax’s last two Eredivisie games in an effort to force a move, is now scheduled to have a medical at the club’s Carrington training facility.

Antony is negotiating a five-year contract with an additional 12-month option, and United is hoping to finalize the deal in time for the Brazilian to be registered for the Premier League match against Leicester City on Thursday.
