Charlbi Dean, a model and actor from South Africa, passed away recently. Her age was 32.
Outside of the fashion world, Dean is best known for his roles in the local Spud flicks, the first of which was released in 2010. She starred in the Swedish film Triangle of Sadness, which was nominated for the Palme d’Or and won, and she had a recurring part in the CW show Black Lightning.
Both the upcoming Toronto Film Festival and the New York Film Festival will be screening the movie as part of their official selections for their respective festivals. It has not yet been made available to the public in theaters.
Dean reportedly passed away on Monday in New York City as a result of an unexpected and abrupt illness, as reported by Stechitegist media.
AFP received confirmation from a representative of Dean’s that the reports were accurate, and they were told by the representative that “it’s awful.”
There was no additional information offered regarding the sickness that led to Dean’s passing.
The 5th of February, 1990 finds Dean being brought into this world in Cape Town, South Africa. Her international career got off the ground after she had a guest appearance in an episode of the Sherlock Holmes program Elementary on CBS in 2017. Shortly after that, she was cast in the CW show Black Lightning.
She was sent to the hospital in October 2008 after a car accident that she and another model, Ashton Schnehage, had survived together in Cape Town.
Luke Volker, a South African model, and Dean were engaged at the time.
