Following Roman Abramovich’s sale of the Chelsea football club, Todd Boehly’s group is now the sole owner. Over 60% of the club shares are owned by Clearlake Capital, which is a member of this consortium.
Rival supporters may be curious as to why the Blues are spending so much during this transfer window despite the departure of the club’s former owner.
It is well known that the Saudi Arabian proprietors of Newcastle are also located in Clearlake. Saying that Saudi Arabians are a part-owner of the Chelsea football club is not incorrect.
Chelsea has already spent more than €180 million throughout this transfer window. They also have plans to invest money on De Jong and Fofana, which might cost more than €150 million once again.
By releasing enough players, the Saudi Arabians appear to be doing a fantastic job of enabling Thomas Tuchel to sign the players of his dreams.
