It is no longer news that some students of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, on Thursday, reportedly set ablaze a female student of the school, identified as Deborah.
According to reports, the deceased was lynched over an allegation of blasphemy which she made against Prophet Muhammed. She was said to have been stoned before she was later burnt by the angry mob despite attempt by the security of the school to rescue her.
According to Premium Times who contacted one of the students who is in the know of how the incident started, Deborah only cautioned a fellow student to stick to only important information on their students WhatsApp group.
The student who identified herself as jamila told premium times that it all started when somebody shared a broadcast message and asked them to share.
“It was that kind of text that will demand you to share with other groups if you don’t want evil to fall on you,” said Jamila.
Late Deborah was quoted to have said in a voice note that “It is not for you to send useless information. Which prophet?”
