Information reaching Stechitegist Media that FA has accused Manchester United’s star player Cristiano Ronaldo of improper behaviour for slapping a young fan’s phone out of his grasp during incident last season.
A 14-year-old was filming Ronaldo with a phone as he left the field after United’s loss to Everton at Goodison Park in April. The five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or took offence and swiped at the phone, causing the boy to drop it.
Merseyside Police also looked into the event, which may help to explain why the FA took so long to act. Police questioned Ronaldo and cautioned him after an investigation into charges of violence and criminal damage.
It’s never simple to deal with emotions in trying situations like the one we are facing, as Ronaldo wrote on social media after apologising for his actions at the time and inviting the Everton fan to see a game at Old Trafford.
“However, we must constantly show all the young people who love the beautiful game respect and patience, and we must lead by example. As a gesture of good faith and sportsmanship, I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if it is feasible, invite this fan to witness a game at Old Trafford.
The offer was declined, though, and the boy’s mother expressed displeasure with United for handling the situation after learning that her son’s hand had allegedly been hurt during the dispute.
