The Federal Government has made an official announcement regarding the expansion of call, SMS, and data services. The announcement was made online some time ago, and it sparked a great deal of public reaction, with many people using social media to express their disappointment.

The announcement was made by Zainab Ahmed, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, yesterday, Thursday, July 28, 2022, StechiteGist Media gathered.

The Minister stated that subscribers to telecommunication services such as calls, SMS, and data services will now be subject to a 12.5% tax, which is an increase of 5% above the current 7.5% tax.

The Minister also mentioned that the Finance Act of 2022 contained a five percent tax, but it was never put into effect due to some issues at the time.
