Alhaji Usman Madaki, 51, who is walking from Bauchi to Lagos to commemorate Sen. Ahmed Tinubu’s election as the All Progressives Congress (APC2023 )’s flagbearer, landed in Ilorin on Tuesday evening.

Madaki reportedly left Ilorin, the capital of Kwara, on Wednesday morning, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Even though he has never met the APC presidential candidate in his life, he told NAN in Ilorin before leaving that he is a huge fan of the former Lagos State governor.

The 51-year-old said he started the trek on June 10 and intended to arrive in Lagos on Saturday. He is a native of Bauchi Local Government Area in Bauchi State (June 25).

Madaki claimed that he encountered many difficulties along the route, including what he believed to be an attempt at kidnapping involving Kafanchan and Zangon Kataf.

He admitted that some individuals even thought he was a member of Boko Haram, but when they realized he did not appear dangerous, they gathered to watch his exit from the area and escorted him out of the town.

“I’d like to visit Tinubu in Lagos and congratulate him on becoming the APC’s nominee for president.

“I concur that he will serve as Nigeria’s next president. Even though he doesn’t know me, Tinubu is my godfather and I like him.

I’m going to Oyo State today, I don’t think it’s that far,” Madaki stated.

The trekker added that he usually tried to see if he could find any APC stalwart who could assist him wherever he visited, but on Tuesday in Ilorin because to rains, he was unable to find one.

“The rain started on me and finished on me since I relocated around 8 a.m. on Tuesday in Bandiru, a border town between Niger State and Jebba in Kwara.

Due to the intense precipitation, he claimed that there was nowhere to obtain a car or motorcycle.

NAN reports that in order to win the election, Tinubu had to overcome Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and ten other candidates.

According to StechiteGist Media, Tinubu won the APC presidential primary in Abuja by defeating Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and 10 other candidates.
