Gabby Petito’s family entered the courtroom for the first hearing in the murder case while Brian Laundrie’s parents were still outside.

Brian Laundrie’s parents failed to show up at court as Gabby Petito’s parents reached court chamber for first hearing.

A lawsuit against Laundries is proposed by a Petito attorney. Many things depend on fraudulent claims made by Steve Bertolino on behalf of the Laundries, and he claims that the mental suffering caused by the false information was significant because they knew Gabby was already deceased.

Laundrie’s parents, Chris and Roberta, allegedly knew their son killed their daughter and tried to aid him in eluding the law, according to Petito’s relatives.

At the 1:30 p.m. hearing in Sarasota County Circuit Court, Joseph and Tara Petito, as well as Petito’s father and stepmother, Nichole Schmidt and Jim Schmidt, appeared before Judge Hunter W. Carroll. Steven Bertolino, one of the couple’s attorneys, attended electronically while co-counsel Matthew Luka showed present in person. Roberta and Chris Laundrie did not go.

In light of the Laundries’ petition to dismiss, the goal of the meeting on Wednesday was for both parties to consider whether the matter would proceed to a jury trial. Within the following two weeks, Carroll promised to deliver a written ruling in response to the arguments. Reilly and the judge talked about maybe holding the trial towards the end of 2022 or the start of 2023, but no definite date was set.
