Ganduje Announce Monday Work-Free to mark Islamic New Year

In honor of the start of the new Islamic year, 1444 A.H., Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has proclaimed Monday a holiday.

This information can be found in a statement made by the information commissioner of Kano, Muhammad Garba.

“Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje congratulates Muslims in the state on the occasion’s spiritual significance, which also necessitates self-evaluation.


He also urged them to use the holiday to ask Allah for forgiveness and to beg for His help in rescuing the country from the ongoing security issues.

He informed the populace that his administration was prepared to keep its pledge to enhance living conditions through the implementation of initiatives and programs that centered on people.

In order to participate in the upcoming general elections, Mr. Ganduje urged people who hadn’t yet gotten their voter cards to do so.

The first month of the Islamic calendar, Muharram, is also regarded as the holiest month following Ramadan.

Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, had instructed Muslims to keep an eye out for the Muharram new moon starting on Thursday, which is comparable to Dhul-Hijjah 29, 1443 AH.
