Muhammadu Yahaya, the governor of Gombe State, expressed his condolences to the people of Bajoga, Funakaye Local Government Area, who were devastated by a devastating flood during a torrential rainstorm.
The early morning rains have left a trail of destruction in the wake of our correspondent’s previous report.
As Yahaya conveyed his condolences to the family of a little child who died as a result of the flood, he also sympathized with those who were injured or lost their homes and other valuables.
At the request of Governor Abdullah Saleh, the governor “ordered” the state’s environmental ministry, emergency management agency and local authorities to “immediately step in” and “evaluate devastation in impacted areas” to “comfort the victims” and “minimize their suffering.”
Despite the assurances of Yahaya’s administration’s commitment to the well-being of its citizens, the mayor asked the public to heed the warnings of flash floods and to avoid flood-prone regions.
To help alleviate the hardships felt by those affected, a government statement stated.
State Emergency Management Agency Executive Secretary Haruna Abdullahi said they were on their way to the affected area to examine the full extent of the flood’s damage.
