The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin TOluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, has pledged
that more infrastructural development would come to
OAUSTECH as long as he remains the Governor of the Sunshine
Gov. Akeredolu gave his words while speaking at the
commissioning of the three newly-completed projects by
Arakunrin Akeredolu-led Administration in the University on
Thursday, 13th August, 2020.
Arakunrin stressed that he believes that governance is a
continuum, and as a result any uncompleted people-oriented
projects embarked upon by predecessors must never be
Mr. Governor recalled that the three projects commissioned
were part of the legacies left behind by Late Gov. Olusegun
Agagu, but abandoned by the last administration in the State.
In his address at the event,the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman
of OAUSTECH Governing Council, Prof. Akinbo Adesomoju
applauded the Governor for marvel ously turning the fortune, of
what he described as formerly moribund citadel around
positively within a period of less than three years, through his
intervention, fairness, and passion for development.
The Pro-Chancellor recalled that the University which was
established in 2007 by Dr. Olusegun Agagu’s government started
on a very positive and fast mode with massive construction in
October 2008 of sixteen different projects.
He added that regrettably the projects were stopped “Between 2009 and 2017, the University unexpectedly
passed through numerous challenges which threatened its
existence, particularly in the area of funding.”

changed from being a Sinking Citadel to an Emerging Citadel,
which was made possible by the commitment of the present
Administration under the outstanding leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN.”, Adesomoju
Earlier in his welcome address, the OAUSTECH’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Roberts Ogunduyile expressed the
appreciation of the Management, Staff and Students to Mr.
Governor and Visitor to the University for his unwavering and
relentless efforts towards the growth and development of the
Ogunduyile, who, described the commissioning as a
memorable milestone in the annals of the University, stated
that the care, concern and kind disposition of the Governor to
the University had been evident since inception of his
administration as indefatigable Governor of Ondo State.
The VC emphasized that it is beyond all shadows of doubt
that the Governor, Arakunrin Akeredolu has done a lot to bring
development to OAUSTECH, saying that it was during his tenure
of office that the University embraced a multi campus system.
”Mr. Governor has been a blessing to the University,
especially in terms of collaboration and linkages, both
nationally and internationally.
Through Mr. Governor’s
assistance, OAUSTECH was for the first time enlisted for normal
intervention funds such as TETFUND and NEEDS Assessment
Meanwhile, Prof. Ogunduyile seized the opportunity of the
commissioning to appeal for swift increase in the monthly
subvention to the University, as well as further financial
support from the Governor and Visitor.
The needed funds he explained would help in meeting up with the swelling monthly staff salary bill and in facilitating the forthcoming accreditation of programmes at the various schools in the University by NUC and COREN teams.
He also requested for the support of Government and stakeholders in the taking off of new programmes in Marine Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology and other approved programmes.
The projects commissioned by Arakunrin included the
University Main Library, Main Auditorium and Administrative building.
