You will learn how to make the Nigerian drink zobo in 10 steps. People all over the country drink this drink, and if you’re selling it, you could make a lot of money.
Recently, the price of a bottle of soft drink has been pretty high. It’s really disappointing that there doesn’t seem to be a good reason why the price went up so much, and that there’s little or no proof that the quality is better.
The amount of sugar in these soft drinks is another big subject that I don’t want to get off track today. And, of course, you already know that they do more harm to the body than good.
Well, if that’s the case, how do we quench our thirst after a day or task that was very stressful? And how do we get that sweet thirst when we really want it?
Zobo drink is a popular Nigerian drink that has many health benefits. It can be used to lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, calm nerves, reduce stress, strengthen blood vessels, lose weight, and increase sex drive.
But it’s not safe for pregnant women in their first trimester because it causes menstruation, which could lead to a miscarriage. The zobo drink is cheap; a 50cl/60cl drink doesn’t cost more than N100. It’s also refreshing, tasty, and a lot of its ingredients are natural, which is why it’s good for your health.
Ingredients.
The main thing you need to make the Zobo drink is roselle or sorrel leaves. It is called Hibiscus by botanists. People can buy the dried leaves at local markets, but they must be red sorrel and not white sorrel for this drink.
Pineapple: Pineapple gives the drink a great flavor, and most people prefer to use pineapple flavors because too much pineapple can make the drink quite sour, according to some complaints. Anyway, some people like the drink because it tastes sour, while other people like it because it doesn’t taste too sour. Some of the other ingredients are,
Cloves (konafuru) (konafuru)
Fresh ginger: This gives the drink a rich taste and flavor, and it also makes the zobo drink healthier.
Water.
You can use orange, lemon, or lime fruit of your choice to decorate.
There are a lot of artificial flavors and sweeteners on the Nigerian market. Sugar, Nutri-C, Eve, Jolly Jus, and Joccy are some of the most popular sweeteners. The zobo drink could be made with any of these. Please be careful with the amount used here. The sweetener needs to be enough to make the drink taste sweet, but not too much so that it tastes too sweet.

Citrus fruit slices of your choice
Remember that this recipe can be scaled up or down depending on how much zobo drink you want to make.
Processes for making zobo drink
Let’s start with the pre-production steps and then move on to the production steps. Make sure you use cold water to wash the dust off the dried zobo leaves.
If you use warm water to make the drink, it may take away some of the flavor or juice from the leaves. Make a powder out of the cloves, wash and peel the ginger, and mix everything together well. Finally, wash the pineapple, peel it, and cut it into thin slices.
Now, let’s look at the main steps that need to be taken after the prerequisites are done:
Step 1: Cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple and cut it in half to make it easier to get the skin off. To get rid of the skin, cut down the length of the pineapple from top to bottom.
Step 2: Dice the pineapple by cutting it in half and then cutting each half in half again. Keep cutting until you have medium-sized chunks.
Step 3: Put the sorrel (dried zobo) leaves in a pot and fill it halfway with water. Add the pineapple chunks and then add enough water to cover the leaves completely.
Step 4: Put the cloves and ginger stumps into the pot.
Step 5: Let the ingredients boil for 30 minutes. By now, the mixture should have started to bubble over, and the drink should be its usual dark purple-red color.
Step 6: Let the mixture cool, and then pour the juice through a sieve to separate the liquid from the solids.
Step 7: Use a glove to squeeze out any extra liquid from the zobo leaves and pineapple.
Step 8: Add something sweet to the mix.
Step 9: Give the mixture a good stir, then pour it into bottles.
Step 10: Put the drink in the fridge if you want a cold drink. It tastes best when it is cold. You can also serve it with ice and slices of citrus fruit.
Really, if your zobo drink is full of nutrients and tastes good, you don’t have to do much to market or advertise it.
A lot of people like how rich the taste of zobo drink is, and students in secondary schools and even colleges and universities often choose it over other soft drinks because it’s cheaper. They can easily buy a bottle of zobo drink for about a third of the price of a bottle of soft drink.
It is also better than other soft drinks because it is good for your health and has less sugar than most. This is especially true for older people and people with diabetes.
