Nnamdi Kanu suffers defeat as court denies his bail

Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, requested his release on bail pending the outcome of the treasonable felony charge the federal government had brought against him. The Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed this request on Tuesday.Kanu, who is currently charged with seven counts, also contested the court’s decision to revoke the bail that it had previously granted him in the motion he submitted through his legal team, which was led by Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN.

Trial Judge Binta Nyako, denied the motion for bail on Tuesday because she was unsatisfied with the explanation the IPOB leader provided for why he did not show up for the continuation of his trial.

In fact, the sureties requested to be released from the case and stated to the court that they had no idea where the defendant was. As a result, the defendant received a fair hearing. CONTINUE READING

“If anything happens to Nnamdi Kanu, Buhari must be held responsible” — IPOB says

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have urged the international community to hold President Muhammadu Buhari responsible for anything that might happen to their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

When Buhari met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Rwanda, IPOB was responding to Buhari’s remark.

Kanu escaped bail and went to the UK, where he continued to assault Nigeria until he was apprehended in Kenya, according to Buhari, who warned that he might not be granted release again.

The IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, said in a statement on Sunday that the world should hold Buhari responsible for whatever may happen to Kanu.

According to IPOB, the British Prime Minister particularly questioned Buhari as to why Kanu was still being held, but instead of directly responding, Buhari opted to address the audience.

“Did he willfully choose to be naughty or was he unaware that his military soldiers broke into Kanu’s Afaraukwu country residence on September 14, 2017?

The video proof of the military invasion of his home, which resulted in at least 30 fatalities, only served to demonstrate that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu acted appropriately at the time, the organization stated.

According to IPOB, it is clear that foreign leaders love making Buhari’s ignorance of simple reality public. CONTINUE READING…

Produce Biafra supporters in court if you haven’t killed them, IPOB urges DSS

The leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra has charged the Department of States Service and the Nigerian military to bring its supporters, Idara Gold and Henry, to court, if they haven’t been killed.

According to the group, the repeated failure by the DSS and sister security agencies to bring the duo to court left it with the belief that they had been killed in custody.

The secessionist group, while calling on the international community and global human rights organisations to intervene, alleged there was a grand plot by the military to turn Biafraland into a killing field.

The group’s Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, stated this in a statement, on Saturday, a copy of which was made available to The PUNCH.

The statement read in part, “The Indigenous People of Biafra, ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to alert the world about the crime against humanity being perpetrated by the Nigeria government and its security agencies especially DSS and Nigeria military against our people in Nigeria.

“The security services have turned our people they kidnapped into sex machine and factory for organs harvest in many of their detention facilities across the country. IPOB family members such as Gold Idara and Henry abducted by the Nigerian DSS agents have fallen victims to this wicked act of organ harvesting because there is no evidence these people are still alive.

“Seven months after they were kidnapped, they are held incommunicado and they have been denied access to their lawyers and family. The security agency on several of the court dates has equally failed to produce them in court to answer to whatever charges may be proffered against them.

“Having failed to produce these innocent people to court or grant their lawyers access to them, we the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra is left with no other option than to alert the world community and the Human Rights Organisations that the Nigerian Gestapo secret Police the DSS has murdered and Harvested the Organs of Idara Gold and Henry.

“Intelligence report available to the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu showed and indicated that Idara Gold and Henry who were illegally abducted at different places in Biafra land last year may have been summarily executed and their organs harvested by Nigeria Department of Security Services in collaboration with the Nigeria Army.

“That was the reason the DSS has been giving flimsy excuses on several occasions now for not bringing the two innocent Biafrans to the court. The non-show appearances of Idara and Henry were deliberate in the hope that their news will fade away with time.

“Idara Gold was abducted in October 2021 in Enugu State for putting on Biafra attire during her birthday celebration. Initially, the DSS denied arresting Idara when she was declared missing by her friends and family members. After much pressure DSS later acknowledged her arrest and transferred her to the DSS Head Office in Abuja. After frantic efforts made by her lawyers, IPOB lawyers and relatives to have access to her in DSS detention facility in Abuja failed, DSS claimed that she has been transferred to Wawa Military detention facility in Kainji in Niger State.

“This Wawa Military detention facility is another abattoir where Biafran youths are butchered and their organs harvested for sale.”

The statement added, “Idara, is not a military personnel, didn’t commit any crime known to the law, nor was she involved in any military coup. Why will an innocent young lady be transferred to a military detention facility because of her choice of clothing?

“She was raped severally in the army barracks before plugging out her organs for sale. Henry was equally abducted in a similar way last year on the suspicion of being an IPOB member and taken to DSS detention facility in Abuja. Till date no one has seen him and both of them have fallen victim to the organ harvest mafia in the Nigerian Security agencies.

Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu must defend rants about Nigeria – Buhari to UK

President Muhammad Buhari said Biafra agitator, Nnamdi Kanu must defend himself in court.

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) is facing trial in Nigeria.

The Nigerian government slammed treason charges against him after repatriation one year ago.

On Thursday, Buhari spoke about Kanu in a chat with British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

The President stated that it was untrue that Kanu was not allowed not allowed to see his lawyers privately.

Buhari said the separatist was being given every opportunity under the law to justify the “uncomplimentary things” he said against Nigeria while in the UK.

“He felt very safe in Britain, and said awful things against Nigeria.

“We eventually got him when he stepped out of the United Kingdom, and we sent him to court.

“Let him defend all that he has said there. His lawyers have access to him.

“Remember he jumped bail before, how are we sure he won’t do it again, if he’s admitted to bail”, he quipped.

IPOB Reaffirms Commitment To Restoration Of Biafra

The Indigenous People of Biafra has said it remains committed to the liberation and restoration of the Sovereign States of Biafra, saying no amount of intimidation will dissuade it from such a noble cause.

This is as the secessionist group stressed that although the Federal Republic of Nigeria had tagged it a terrorist organisation, its modus operandi and demands do not in any way suggest it subscribes to the tenets and ideals of terrorism.

The group’s Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, stated this in a statement, on Wednesday, thanking Biafrans for painstakingly participating in the annual May 31 Biafra Day.

The statement read in part, “The global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra under the command and leadership of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wish to congratulate Biafrans, friends of Biafra and lovers of freedom across the world who made out time to grace the epoch event and remembrance of our fallen heroes and heroines who paid the ultimate price for the freedom of Biafra between 1967-1970 and till date.

“We commend Biafrans both home and in the diaspora over their resilience, tenacity and effort in ensuring that our celebration of Biafran Heroes and Heroines was very successful and had a beautiful global outlook in all countries in the world.

IPOB leadership brings to you a message of encouragement and hope from our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who is joyful over the committed participation by IPOB families worldwide who demonstrated to the global community that we are ready to go and to manage our destiny in a free and Independent Biafran Nation.

“In line with fully charged emotions and agonising memories, we appeal to the conscience and conscious considerations of the International community to extend to West Africa and precisely the Biafrans that all important and widely preached and consistently published ‘United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights’, which includes but not limited to freedom to choose our POLITICAL, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL SYSTEMS, SELF DETERMINATION, among others.

“It is also unheard of that we are by the stipulated policies of the Nigerian government not allowed self-motivated, community effort/financed regional infrastructural development in compliance with Sustainable Development Goals

We equally thank IPOB families amongst us whose effort on this year’s Heroes Remembrance Day programme of events attracted distinguished diplomats and dignitaries of high repute, especially from their host countries.

“The indoor program yielded more opportunities for the tenacious pursuit of Biafra freedom and for our people to be re-educated by knowledgeable Biafrans and friends of Biafra on the need for us to remain peaceful and focused no matter the height of mountains of distractions and provocation from agent provocateurs working against our collective interest but working in collaboration with the Nigerian Fulani government.

“Therefore, everyone must endeavour to focus on the ball ‘the larger picture’ is our struggle to liberate our land from the distasteful forcible union called Nigeria.

“We are Biafrans of over 75 million in population. We are no terrorists, we are no criminals as our oppressor Nigeria wished to tag us. Every country and nation of the world’s police, immigration, foreign affairs and competent courts can attest to our good conduct, which is contrary to deliberate character assassination of a race by the Nigerian government police, armed forces and their media disinformation.”

Why Wike lost PDP presidential ticket to Atiku – Nnamdi Kanu’s brother

Kanunta, a brother of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has revealed why Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State failed to win Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential ticket.

According to him, the IPOB and those killed during the massacre of Obigbo were responsible for Wike’s loss at the PDP primaries.

In a tweet, Kanunta dismissed claims that Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto betrayed Wike.

According to Kanunta: “Neither the North, nor Tambuwal betrayed #Wike. Nor was it any Southern disunity.

“It was KARMA that nailed him. The Karma of #Obigbo. The #IPOB was also a factor.

“Clue: Late Buhari won despite his open support for BokoHaram.”

IPOB denies killing pregnant woman, four kids in Anambra

The Indigenous People of Biafra has denied any involvement in the killing of a pregnant woman and her four children in Anambra State.

The group said it strongly condemned the ‘abominable” act, saying that “in Igboland, it is an abomination to kill a pregnant woman. The perpetrators of the heinous crime are certainly not IPOB and could never have been”.

The pregnant woman from Adamawa State, Harira Jubril, with her four kids, was killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on the Isulo community in Orumba North Local Government Area last Sunday.

The gunmen visited two other communities on the same day and killed about five other persons.

The Orumba North LGA is among the communities that the State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has imposed a 6pm to 6am curfew on during a live broadcast on Wednesday.

Soludo described the killings as “barbaric” and “unacceptable” and vowed to fish out the perpetrators and deal with them in accordance with the law.

But the IPOB through its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in a statement on Friday, said, “We have always said it that the terrorists were imported into Biafra land to commit the ongoing atrocities all in an attempt to discredit our struggle, demonise IPOB and proscribe it, then lobby and bribe Britain to tag us a terror group with the hope to stop our match to freedom.”

Powerful said those involved in the “barbarity” of killing the Hausa woman and children should wait for the repercussions of the evil they committed against the innocent woman and her children.

He insisted that the criminal elements behind the killing were not IPOB and that they should be prepared to pay for their heinous crime.

He accused the military of harbouring Fulani terrorists in their barracks and giving them ID cards for identification, adding that the terrorists were transferred into the southeast territory.

The statement read in part, “IPOB has severally said that these criminal elements are not part of us and they should allow Hausa do their legitimate business in our land because Hausa too suffer the same fate we are facing in the hands of Fulani terrorists claiming they are herdsmen in Nigeria.
