According to Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool tried to sign a midfielder earlier in this transfer window, but he decided to join another team.
The Reds are aiming to sign a new midfielder before the deadline on Thursday, according to the German manager.
Aurelien Tchouameni was the main midfield target for Liverpool this summer. He has since joined Real Madrid for a sum that could reach €90 million.
In his media appearance on Tuesday, ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League match against Newcastle, Klopp made reference to this failed transaction.
“We were interested in a midfielder, but he chose to join another team. That is a possibility, he said.
Some players are currently unavailable, yet they are still very intriguing to us. That is the situation, so we can change it.
Additionally, Klopp stated that while it is ultimately not up to him, he would love Liverpool to take more chances in the summer market.
“Let me put it this way: occasionally, I’d like to take a little more risk [in the market], but I don’t choose that. We have a terrific team, and we’ll do everything we can to make the most of this season, he stated.
“I am not attentive [about the amount Liverpool spends], we are told what is and isn’t possible. I’m done now. We attempt to operate inside this range. There is no reason to criticize because we won the championship without adding any players. We already have a team in place. We have every player here.
