The federal government approved 19 universities in the year 2022, and they are now operational. According to data obtained from the national university commission’s website, 1 federal university and 6 state universities were granted licenses to operate in the country last year.
Following the lengthy strike by the academic staff union of universities (ASUU) in 2022, the federal government approved the establishment of 12 private universities in the same year.
The National University Commission (NUC) of the federal government has approved the operation of approximately 19 federal, state, and private universities between January and December 2022. According to data obtained from the NUC website, President Muhammadu Buhari approved only one federal university in the year 2022.
