In Nigerian universities, you can study Aeronautical and Astronautic Engineering for five (5) years.
If you want to work in aerospace engineering, Aerospace Engineering is a good course to study. Aeronautical engineering is a type of engineering that deals with building planes and helicopters.
The two most important parts of aerospace engineering are:
- Aeronautical Engineering
- Astronautical Engineering
Aeronautical engineering is a new field of study for students in Nigeria. Aeronautical engineering is a new field in Nigerian universities compared to other engineering fields. Aeronautical engineering is taught at universities in Nigeria.
The JAMB IBASS says that only two universities in Nigeria are approved to offer the Aeronautical Engineering program. They’re;
The JAMB subject combination for aeronautical engineering at Lagos State University (LASU) and Afe Babalola University (ABUAD)
Here is the list of JAMB subjects for Aeronautical Engineering;
Math, Chemistry, Physics, and Use of English for UTME
Passes in any two (2) of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry at the “O” level.
Conditions for Direct Entry
A-level passes in any two of math, physics, and chemistry.
I ABUAD is the same as in Civil Engineering.
(ii) BAUCHI takes ND/HND lower credit in relevant Engineering.
(iii) BELLS accepts
a) Two (2) “A” Level passes in math, physics, or chemistry.
b) ND or HND upper credit in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
iv. ESUTECH accepts upper credits from first degrees and HNDs in relevant programs for 300 level.
(v) FED-OYEEKITI needs two (2) “A” Level passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
(vi) FUTO accepts At least two “A” level passes in math, physics, and chemistry with a grade of at least “C.” ND/HND at the Upper Credit level in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, or Engineering. First degree in Physics, Math, Statistics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, or Engineering. Very good grades in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics for the JUPEB. It doesn’t work with NCE. Candidates must in addition meet UTME ‘O’ Level requirements.
(vii) UNIPORT accepts three (3) Advanced level GCE, HSC, JUPEB, or IJMB passes in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, which are also UTME entry requirements. OND (upper credit) in the relevant field from a recognized and COREN-accredited institution, including UTME entry requirements. HND (lower credit) in the relevant field from a recognized and COREN-accredited institution, plus two years of work experience and UTME entry requirements.
(viii) ABU requires
a. Two passes in math and physics at the “A” level or IJMB.
b. ND in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school with at least Upper Credit overall and Distinction in Mathematics.
c. A HND from an accredited school with at least a Lower Credit in Mechanical Engineering.
