The second edition of the Akog photoseries, is a concept developed through creativity and unique insights.
The mastermind behind this great initiative, Gideon Akog, transforms life by unveiling excellent photographic skills in the digital world.
He debuted in October 2019, in his photoseries that holds yearlyand takes a fascinating approach to unseen discussions in the noble street of Nigeria
His first series was themed 5 days 50 pictures and it featured him going around the street of Lagos and capturing different scenerios and moments also telling a story through it.
This year’s edition themed MORTALS; The native of the street, featured images of Street beggars who eems to have been overlooked by the population or the masses. In an interview with the Stechitegist, he explained how the Photopoetry series was inspired by a book he once came across in secondary school tittled Homeless not Hopeless by Sola Owonibi.
Akog is a freelance photographer who has an unwavering passion for development & visualizes the everyday Nigeria through a mobile phone, hence, the nature of photography he involves himself (Street Photography).
He believes his pictures would tell stories for tomorrow Nigerians and this drives him all around Lagos as he tells the story of an everyday Nigerian. He has trained over 100 aspiring mobile photographers since the start of the pandemic in association with Teen World Empowerment T.W.E on mobile photography.
Akog believes that it is not about the lens but the person behind it. He never cease to be enthusiastic about his passion in redefining and shaping the photography world.
He, along side some talented writers, the likes of Ayomi Writes, McKayla,Mono and Brainy Ade worked tirelessly to this end.
I must testify that it is not everyday you see a group of young teenagers come together to work on a photopoetry series or any poetry-related work which makes this particular work is a must see and a must read.
