The versatile Ainsley Maitland-Niles is a potential loan target for Newcastle United and Arsenal.

Maitland-Niles, a versatile player for the Gunners, is a target for the Tynesiders, This season, the 25-year-old has not made an appearance for Arsenal.

Many Premier League teams, notably Southampton and Bournemouth, are interested in Maitland-Niles, and Newcastle are in talks with the north Londoners.

The five-time England international Maitland-Niles likes to play in midfield but can also fill in at right-back.

He helped Serie A team Roma win the inaugural Europa Conference League while on loan to them for the second half of last season. In the latter part of the 2020–21 season, he also made 12 appearances for West Brom, however he was unable to prevent their relegation to the Championship.

Despite their injury troubles, Mikel Arteta has chosen not to call on Maitland-Niles thus far this season, with the young academy product not even making an appearance in a matchday squad.

Mohamed Elneny is believed to have a hamstring issue that will keep him out of action for a while, while Thomas Partey will be sidelined for a few weeks with a muscular ailment.
