Sophie Capewell, a track cyclist paid tribute to her late father, who passed away in October, by dedicating a bronze Commonwealth medal she won. She was included in the women’s sprint event at the Berlin 2020 World Championships.

She later won bronze in the team sprint at the 2021 World Championships in Roubaix, France. Capewell was chosen for the England Commonwealth Games team in 2022. Despite winning the first of her three races, she ultimately lost to Emma Finucane of Wales for the bronze medal, placing fourth overall. She recovered, though, and won bronze in the 500m trial the next day.

Coming from a cycling family Nigel Capewell, Sophie’s father, competed for Team GB as a paralympic cyclist in Atlanta and Sydney. Cycling competitor Sophie took up cycling at a young age. She participated in a lot of junior competitions and earned sprinting national titles.

After making her first appearance at the 2015 UEC Under-23 and Junior European Track Championships in Athens, Capewell shot to fame in 2015. She finished fourth and fifth, missing the podium ranking.

At the 500-meter trial, Capewell won her first significant competition and shared the bronze medals with Lauren Bate. She was selected to represent Great Britain on the cycling team for the 2017 European Championships.

The 2020 UCI Track Cycling World Championships featured a women’s sprint race in which Sophie competed. At the UCI Track Cycling World Championships held in 2021, Capewell earned the bronze medal in the women’s team sprint in the middle of the year.

Sophie Capewell Paid Tribute To Her Father

Sophie Capewell dedicated to her deceased father, who passed away in October, to a bronze Commonwealth medal. The sprint star from Burton overcame disappointments in the team and individual sprints to finish on the podium in the 500-meter time trial onJuly 30.

Capewell was happy to finish on the podium in front of his fans after a challenging year. I’m sure he’s proud of me, she said. She set the field’s early pace with a flying lap time of 53.696.

The Olympic champion from Canada, Kelsey Mitchell, and the Australian Kristinia Clonan beat that, but the Team England sprinter preserved her spot on the podium.

The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games inspire people and towns all around the nation, and Capewell believes their success will inspire others to participate in sports. After Friday’s team sprint, Capewell was delighted to see a congratulations message from Mitchell on social media.

Nigel Capewell Cause of Death

Nigel Capewell died last October. He was mainly known as the father of Sophie Capwell. His cause of death has not been disclosed to the media yet. On September 4, 1998, Sophie was born in Lichfield, England. Nigel and his wife are the parents of two children, including Sophie.

Emca is the name of her sister. Capewell did not reveal much about her parents or early years until she became famous, despite having a prosperous career. Capewell enrolled in Loughborough University after graduating from high school.
