The University has issued directive to concerned staff to immediately suspend
Clearance of the final year students of the University until the Senate considers and releases the final results of all the graduating students.
The caution was contained in a circular titled: “Notice to Staff and Final Year Students on OAUSTECH MANAGEMENT SUSPENDS CLEARANCE OF FINAL YEAR STUDENTS Clearance Matter“, dated 9th September, 2021, and signed by the Registrar, Mr. G.O. Saliu.
“It has come to the notice of the University Management that some members of staff have been signing clearance forms brought to them by the final year students”, the circular read in part.
“The final year students completed their examination just last week and lecturers are still marking examination scripts.
Majority of the said students have not even completed their final year projects.
For the avoidance of doubt, clearance forms can only be processed and signed by the designated officers in the University when Senate has met to consider the final year examination results.
It is then that it will be possible to know those final year students that have passed and those that are not graduating.
In addition, some students have pending disciplinary cases and they cannot be cleared, even if they passed their final examinations until the cases are disposed of”, the circular further stated.
“In the light of the foregoing, members of staff are hereby directed to suspend all actions on clearance forms until after Senate has considered and approved the final year examination results ” , the circular instructed.
