Following the murder of 8 Nigerian citizens by alleged members of the banned indigenous people of Biafra, several Northerners living in Owerri, Imo State, reportedly started to fear for their lives (IPOB).

According to reports, the shooting occurred on Monday when gunmen struck a building in Orogwe, Owerri, IMO State, which was primarily inhabited by Hausa immigrants from Nigeria and the Niger Republic.

According to sources, the building was assaulted because the shooters believed the residents were mostly migrants from the North while being unaware that the victims were foreigners from the Nigerian Republic.

However, Abubakar Muhammad, an eye witness, claimed that the shooters had already visited the the neighborhood on Monday, Stechitegist gathered.

He pointed out that the gunmen did not have weapons with them when they arrived on Monday. Even though they made small talk with others, they returned at night and started shooting them.

The majority of those killed, according to the eyewitness, were his Suya business colleagues. Speaking further, he disclosed that on Sunday, the day before the attack, the gunmen had earlier started shooting at travelers from the North.
