Officers from the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended Pastor Michael Abiodun, 48, of “The Light House Gospel Church” in Oluwo, Owode Egba, in the local government area of Obafemi Owode for allegedly defiling and impregnating the 12-year-old daughter of a churchgoer (name withheld).

According to information obtained at Owode Egba divisional headquarters, which resulted in the Pastor’s arrest, the victim’s mother joined the church as a result of a spiritual problem that led to the deaths of two of her daughters.

In an effort to save the victim from experiencing the same catastrophe, she raced to the church for deliverance.

On that fateful day, the victim was taken to the father-of-three pastor for special prayers, but when she got there, the pastor took her into a room inside the church and forced carnal knowledge on her, which resulted in pregnancy.

CSP Olasunkanmi Popoola, the DPO for the Owode Egba division, dispatched his detectives to the scene after learning of the occurrence, and the rogue Pastor was swiftly captured.

He confessed to the crime while being questioned but blamed the devil for it. In addition, he acknowledged that it was him who humiliated the victim, a JSS 2 pupil.

Authorities were informed by the victim’s mother that seven months after the incident, she found out her daughter was pregnant.

The young mother informed the Police that the Pastor had threatened her with grave consequences if she told anybody about what had happened between them, which is why she had concealed the knowledge from her mother. The young mother gave birth to a baby three months ago.

The state commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the suspect to be transferred to state criminal investigation departments for further investigation and potential prosecution, according to SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, a spokesperson for the state Police command, who also confirmed the incident.
