Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has received advice on how to best resolve his conflict with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.
After Atiku, the PDP candidate, declined to select Wike as his running partner, the two have been at odds.
Dele Momodu, a party chieftain, believes that Atiku should meet with Wike privately and, if feasible, sign a contract to regain his trust.
“What I would encourage Atiku Abubakar to do today is to get down one-on-one with Governor Wike without any other person there and agree on deliverables, if possible, sign an agreement,” Momodu advised.
“The PDP situation demonstrates Wike’s role in Nigerian politics. Wike stands out as a superb performance if you have a man who is your best governor overall, across party lines.
“There is no doubt that in the PDP today, Wike’s dread is the beginning of wisdom. Wike is clever and aware of the game he is playing. His goal is to pressure the party into making a bargain. That is how I interpret the circumstances.
