Piesie Esther, a well-known Ghanaian gospel singer, has shared her personal story of hardship and poverty.
When she arrived on Adom FM for an interview, the well-known and gifted artist recounted this experience.
She stated the following on the Dwaso Nsem show:
Sometimes we reminisce about our history and shed tears. I recall a day when we were preparing lunch and realized we were missing fish; as a result, we were forced to eat our supper without it.
Before, poverty disgraced our nation. There are moments when it is impossible not to apologize for something you haven’t done, even when you don’t feel like you have done anything wrong. It’s a place I’ve been to before.
Other news includes Piesie Esther explaining why she failed to win any awards at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards or the 3Music Awards even though she released several high-quality singles.
During an interview with Ghanaian radio station Hitz FM, she said that her music was not considered for nominations, despite her submitting it.
She said this in her submission:
The VGMA, 3 Music, did not consider my music for candidacy. Perhaps it wasn’t a big hit with the general public. However, the song was a big hit.
In specific categories, my song did better than some of the other nominees since it was more well-known.
Organizations and boards of award schemes need to tell us why we weren’t nominated so we can fix the problem.
