In the Federal Capital Territory, 2,900 people who are impoverished and vulnerable have received a one-time award of N20,000 from the federal government.

The Vulnerable Group Programme is an enlargement of the National Social Investment Scheme, according to Sadiya Umar Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, who spoke to press following the flag-off event in Abuja.

By 2030, the program hopes to assist in removing one million Nigerians from poverty.

The 2,900 recipients were chosen from among the six Abuja area councils.

It will be duplicated in all the other federation states, according to Farouq.

“We are starting with the FCT today and will go on to the other states by the end of next week.

This program is a part of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s National Social Investment Program, which was established to help our nation’s poor and most vulnerable residents.

“This is a one-time donation of N20,000 to be offered to needy groups. And it is up to them to either begin a little, insignificant trading or increase their capital.
