As was expected, Sanyaolu was killed in a single-vehicle collision in the early hours of Friday near Army Cantonment, Maryland, Ikeja, in the Maryland region of the state.
Omotayo Sanyaolu, the governor of Lagos State’s senior special assistant for tertiary education, youth, and student affairs, has passed away.
The deceased’s vehicle struck an ATM near the cantonment, according to a statement from Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyantolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority.
“Upon arrival at the site, it was determined that a black Toyota Camry with the license plate LAGH 32 crashed into the Keystone Bank ATM in Ikeja, adjacent to the Army Cantonment, while traveling at a high rate of speed.
Sanyanolu, an adult male who was the only passenger in the car, tragically perished on impact. When emergency personnel arrived, they immediately bagged up his remains.
These have been given to the on-duty cantonment officer (Officer Musa)
With the aid of LASEMA’s light towing equipment, the affected vehicle was rescued and driven to a layby.
Sanyaolu, the recently-retired Youth Leader of the Lagos State APC, mourned the loss of the assistant and referred to her as a “faithful, committed, hard-working, and passionate co-worker in the Greater Lagos agenda.”
In a statement of condolence released by his chief press secretary, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu expressed his sorrow over Sanyaolu’s passing and that of the Lagos State Government, the deceased’s family, friends, the Lagos APC, and the state’s tertiary institutions.
The loss of a loved one is often difficult since it cannot be undone, but we must give thanks to God that Omotayo Sanyaolu had a beneficial influence during his brief but adventurous live. He was a devoted and honorable Youth Leader for our party, the APC, and he helped it win numerous elections.
“Tayo’s contribution to the Greater Lagos agenda as my Special Assistant on Tertiary Education, Youth, and Student Affairs was significant. He made a constructive contribution to state concerns involving children and students.
“I feel sorry for his widow, kids, siblings, friends, and the rest of the family, as well as for Lagos State and the APC family,” he said. I ask God to offer Omotayo Sanyaolu, who passed away, eternal rest and give his family the strength to endure the tragic loss. Tayo will be missed.
