Ex-House Speaker Yakubu Dogara has said that the Christian Association of Nigeria’s opposition to the APC’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket is godly. Dogara is a former Speaker of the House.
According to Dogara, a senior APC official, the view of CAN on this issue is shared by all those who care about fairness.
He addressed during a seminar on Nigeria’s leadership crisis held in Abuja as part of the 12th General Assembly of CAN events.
It’s not just CAN’s or Babachir Lawal’s, as many have said, that have made the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket an issue in this country, at this time of national peril, he asserted forcefully.
The rejection of the same-faith ticket is also, in my opinion, God’s own viewpoint, since we serve a God of justice. Because he is both the just one and the author of diversity, he wishes for all of us to unite.
All of us (Christian political leaders) who care about righteousness, fairness, and inclusion are behind CAN’s stand.
‘Every other stance is ungodly in the same way that the one we’re fighting for is. You can’t find a medium ground. In order to maintain the unity of our great nation, you must either support the ideals of justice and fairness, or you must oppose them.
