At the tail end of the summer transfer season, Paris Saint-Germain attempted to sell Neymar to Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola rejected the bid, keeping the Brazilian at Parc des Princes.

Man City would later complete one late transaction by acquiring Manuel Akanji from Borussia Dortmund.

While the board rejected the opportunity to sign Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea, Manchester United football director John Murtough feels that he should have stopped the club’s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong earlier.

On deadline day, Man Utd attempted to sign Spanish striker Raul de Tomas but were unable to reach an agreement with Espanyol.

Another late loan offer for De Jong was reportedly made by Bayern Munich, but Barcelona rejected it.

In the last days of the transfer market, Mikel Arteta has acknowledged that Arsenal tried to address their lack of depth in the midfield, but they were unable in securing any of their targets. Three proposals from the Gunners on Douglas Luiz were turned down by Aston Villa on deadline day.

Liverpool did not actively pursue Ruben Neves, who is now expected to receive a new contract offer from Wolves, because they were only interested in acquiring a midfielder on loan in the closing days of the transfer window. Instead, the Reds signed Juventus’ Arthur Melo.

In the recent weeks, Tottenham considered making an attempt for Wilfried Zaha but finally opted against it. The winger for Crystal Palace, who also attracted Chelsea’s interest, has less than a year left on his deal.

Lucas Moura won’t sign a new contract and will go from Spurs in 2023. Although Newcastle United and Aston Villa are interested in him, Sao Paulo is where he will most likely end up.

Wilfried Gnonto, an Italian youngster, was wanted by FC Zurich for £7 million, but Leeds United only agreed to pay £4 million in an eleventh-hour transaction.

Late on Friday, Barcelona finalized the free transfer of Marcos Alonso from Chelsea. The left-Stamford back’s Bridge contract was dissolved, allowing Barça to complete the transfer outside of the window.

Legendary Real Madrid player Marcelo has signed for free with Greek champion Olympiacos. On the final day before the transfer deadline, the Brazilian was linked to Leicester City, but the Foxes maintained that this was only rumor.
