Four members of a notorious armed robbery gang which include twin brothers have been arrested in Lagos.
The twin brothers said to be children of a retired soldier, and the other two, also sons of retired soldiers were alleged to be specialists in car snatching and robbing of unsuspecting bus passengers of their valuables.
They were alleged to be armed with a locally-made gun and military uniforms which they use during operations.
They were arrested in Lagos State by the operatives of the Force Intelligence Response Team, IRT.
The suspects, who were identified as Taiwo and Kehinde Ojomo, Emmanuel Bamidele and Peter Samuel, were said to be children of retired officers of the Nigeria Army.
Saturday INDEPENDENT’s investigation revealed that they were trailed to a popular hotel in Idimu area of Lagos State, where they were gathered in preparation for a robbery operation.
It was gathered that operatives of the IRT, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, had commenced investigation about the activities of the suspects in Lagos and finally got information about the suspects, when one of their victims of alleged robbery attack, Abiodun Sadiq, a resident of Bariga area of the state, who was robbed of his Toyota Corolla Salon car and other valuables at gunpoint in August, 2020 petitioned the Inspector General of Police, IGP Abubakar Mohammed Adamu to assist in unmasking the suspects.
Sadiq, in that petition was said have detailed how he was robbed.
