In the collapse of an Abuja mall, five people were rescued but two remained trapped.

A joint task force made up of members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Police Force, and locals has successfully rescued five victims.

On Thursday night, a two-story structure in the Kubwa neighborhood of Abuja Municipal Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja fell. A shopping center is also housed in the structure.

The building fell on Thursday night at around 11:30 p.m., according to one of the victims who was rescued, Hafeez Olayinka, who talked to The PUNCH. However, the victims weren’t found until early today (Friday), and they were then rushed to the hospital.

He mentioned that he arrived at the destroyed structure on Monday to make some repairs.

We’ve been trapped since Thursday night, Olayinka added. I’ve been here since Monday to do some repairs to the structure.

“On Thursday, at around 11:30 p.m., we recognized that the structure was crumbling, so we made an attempt to flee. However, they found five of us this morning and brought us to the hospital. It might interest you to read Police Service Commission declares indefinite strike with reasons
