Its three days now with the ongoing ASUU strike. Schools like University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and University of Benin (UNIBEN) have decided to halt all academic activities as a result of total strike.
ASUU Chairman at UNIBEN and UNN said that they wont resume until the government meet their demand. They have paralysed all academic activities in the school as a result of total strike.
Dr Ifeanyichukwu Abada, the ASUU Chairman at UNN chapter while addressing journalists after the union’s congress reiterated ASUU’s position that the strike is indefinite till the federal Government adhere to the needful.
He further explained that ASUU will not continue signing MOA without implementations, because the ones of 2012, 2013, and 2017 are yet to be attended to for the past seven years.
ASUU chairman at UNIBEN, Prof Julius Iyasele reportedly said the strike was prompted by the government’s insensitive to the plight of Nigerians and public tertiary institution.
He further explained that the government after reaching an agreement with the union reneged on its promises adding that ASUU Members would not return to work until the government heed to their demands.
