Alhaji Goni Bukar Lawan, the Yobe Commissioner for Youths and Sports, has passed away.
The News Agency of Nigeria NAN in Damaturu received confirmation of the death from the ministry’s spokesperson, Alhaji Tijjani Ciroma.
He claimed that at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Lawal, 57, was killed in a car accident on Potiskum to Azare Road.
According to Ciroma, the deceased was in route to Kano to catch an aircraft to Abuja for a formal event.
The Yobe Islamic Center in Damaturu would offer funeral prayers for the deceased by 11 a.m., according to the spokeswoman.
Lawal was chosen as a commissioner in 2019, according to NAN.
From 2007 to 2015, he served in the House of Representatives.
Lawal leaves behind two wives and a large family.
