Zulum declares Monday, August 1, as public holiday for the new Islamic year

The new Islamic year (first Muharram 1444) AH will be observed on Monday, August 1, 2022, as a public holiday by Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.

This information was provided to journalists on Sunday in a press release that was signed by the Head of Service (HoS), Barrister Simon Malgwi.

All government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, as well as all private businesses, including financial institutions, are therefore instructed to observe the national holiday, according to Malgwi.

In order to celebrate the start of the new Islamic year (1st Muharram 1444) AH, Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved Monday, August 1, 2022, as a public holiday.

“As a result, the public holiday is to be observed by all government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies as well as all private businesses, including financial Institutions.

“His Excellency wishes the Muslim Umma a joyful new Islamic year and asks everyone to keep praying for the restoration of enduring peace to our beloved State and the country as a whole.”
